About CrunchWize
A group of community journalists working on one problem: helping you pick the better option.
Who We Are
CrunchWize is a small group of community journalists. We are not a bank, a brokerage, an insurance agency, or a software vendor, and we do not want to sell you any of those things. We write about them.
Our purpose is narrow on purpose: publish fact-based information that helps you choose superior products and services. Not the cheapest by default, and not the most popular. The one that is actually better for the situation you are in.
How We Compare Things
Every comparison on this site follows the same discipline:
Specific products, never generic categories. We compare named carriers, named platforms, and named plans. A comparison between two abstractions tells you nothing you can act on.
Published, checkable facts. Pricing, coverage terms, fee schedules, regulatory filings, and contract language, sourced from the provider or the regulator rather than from a press release.
A stated winner and the reason for it. Every verdict names the buyer it applies to. A product that wins for a first-time buyer often loses for someone with a complicated file, and we say so.
The parts nobody advertises. Renewal pricing, cancellation windows, auto-renew clauses, caps, exclusions, and what happens when you want to leave. This is usually where the real cost is.
Nothing on this site is professional financial, legal, or insurance advice, and our full disclaimer spells out the limits of what we publish. Verify anything that matters with the provider before you sign.
When We Get It Wrong
Prices change, carriers rewrite terms, and we make mistakes like anyone else. If you find something inaccurate or out of date, tell us and we will correct it. Accuracy complaints go to the front of the queue, including the ones that are inconvenient for us.
The People Behind the Bylines
Every article on CrunchWize carries a name. These are the editors and contributors who cover each beat, alongside guest writers who take on subjects they know firsthand.

Mortgages, investing, and retirement accounts. Reads the prospectus so you do not have to, and has watched enough cycles to be suspicious of anything described as new.

Health, auto, and life coverage. Insists on real dollar figures instead of ranges, on the theory that a premium you cannot picture is a premium you cannot compare.

Security systems, solar, home services, and the contracts that come with them. Writes about houses the way people actually live in them.

Software and services for small operators. Starts most pieces by questioning whatever the category has decided is obvious, then does the math out loud.

Checking accounts, credit cards, and consumer lending. Reads the fee schedule and the cardholder agreement, then reconstructs how the charge was built before it reached you.

Consumer contracts, legal services, and dispute resolution. Less interested in what a clause says than in what it does the day somebody tests it.
Guest contributors write for us on subjects they know firsthand: Ari Koenig, Joy Gracia, and Yasmin Becella.
Corrections, questions, or a product you want compared: [email protected]. We read everything, and we answer the ones we can be useful on.
